Kathmandu – As tensions intensify in the Middle East, Israel has launched coordinated strikes targeting Tehran, the capital of Iran, and Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. The attacks reportedly followed a drone strike by Iran on the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
According to statements posted by Israeli security forces on social media platform X, simultaneous strikes are ongoing against military targets in Tehran and Beirut. Al Jazeera reported that Israeli airstrikes hit the Haret area of Beirut.
Meanwhile, The Jerusalem Post, citing Reuters, confirmed that the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh was targeted in a drone attack. Reports indicate that two additional American soldiers were killed during “Operation Epic Fury,” bringing the total U.S. fatalities in the operation to six.
Following the embassy attack, the United States suspended all consular services in Saudi Arabia. The U.S. Embassy in Iraq also ordered non-essential personnel to evacuate and restricted the use of Baghdad airport, according to Al Jazeera.
In retaliation for the joint U.S.–Israeli strikes, Iran reportedly launched missile and drone attacks across several Gulf nations. The U.S. Ambassador to Bahrain, Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, stated that Bahrain’s air defense systems intercepted 70 Iranian ballistic missiles and 59 drones.
U.S. Central Command confirmed that American forces are continuing operations targeting Iranian military infrastructure, particularly facilities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Iran has also claimed launching a “massive missile and drone” attack on a U.S. airbase in Bahrain. According to Iranian sources, 20 drones and three missiles struck Sheikh Isa Air Base, allegedly destroying the main command building and igniting fuel tanks.
Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, warned that Iran would continue decisive defensive actions if U.S.–Israeli attacks persist.
The expanding conflict has now drawn Gulf countries directly into the confrontation, raising serious regional security concerns. Global leaders and international organizations are urging de-escalation, but with hostilities ongoing, the end of the conflict remains uncertain. ANI
